- Kasa of the Raj-in is now blessable with a Clothing Bless Deed
- People who use Hiding skill will be put in peace mode
- Various fixes about plantgrowing:--> Seeds no longer have range or LOS checks.--> When clicking on the water button on the plant gump it attempts to find water in your backpack first and if it doesn't it will give you a target instead.--> Changed some old SVN messages that were using strings to use cliloc data instead.
- Player vendors will say the name of the buyer
- Books in bookshelves are now accessible to be read. They can't be taken away unless by using Stealing Skill- Paragon metal chests now are turnable by using the Interior Decorator
- Runebooks can't be picked up if opened
- Runebook default location now is displayed as a red dot- Hit Life Leech now works in PvP
- Summoned Daemon now has the proper bodyvalue (AoS+) and effect
- Two new house signs are added
- Changes to Satyrs and Dryads:--> Dryads:----> they do area peace----> can partially undress males----> have chance to drop peculiar or fragrant (not yet implemented) seeds--> Satyrs:----> their karma is neutral----> can peace combatants----> can provoke nearby creatures to the combatant----> can undress females----> can discord combatants--> Both: can drop spellweaving scrolls

- Acid elementals now use the proper poison level, and are vulnerable to elemental slayers. When animated, they turn in wraith or banshee
- You can't drop items on the same tile a mobile (PC or NPC) is
- the Embrace Honor virtue ability now works as per OSI
- Woodland Belts now are dyable
- You can combine folded cloth and bottle of liquor to make firebombs
- SoS now are not anymore facet specific, as per OSI

In An Nox, skills can be gained by learning from a master of the task or by hard work, dedication and repetitiveness.

Fortunately for the people of An Nox, when the moons meet, their learning ability doubles, causing a quicker increase in the knowledge being applied.

An Nox's hours of power are from 6am-9am and 10pm-midnight. Skill gain rate is double during these hours of play.

Several skulls have been seen around An Nox. If you find one beware. Someone was killed there!

Blue skulls are the skulls of good, killed by a murder.
Red skulls are the skulls of the bad, killed by another.
Gray skulls are the skulls of ugly. People that were neither good or bad.

These skulls have been know to last for several days so beware of your surroundings.

Call to Arms! Call to Arms! The mining camp of Minoc has been over run by Goblins. All new adventures in the land of An Nox are asked to grab a club or sword and help drive them back. Goblins tend to be weak, but attack in mass groups.

The Bounty Hunter in Minoc is offering a rewards for the ears of Goblins, so make sure to carve them up after the kill.

After taming a pet, it is important to know what to do with one. Here is the list of commands that you can use on your pet.

Come - "(All/Name) come" - Summons all or one pet to your location.
Drop - "(Name) drop" - Drops its loot to the ground (if it carries any).
Follow - "(Name) follow" - Follows targeted being.
"(All/Name) follow me" - Makes all or one pet follow you.
Friend - "(Name) friend" - Allows targeted player to confirm resurrection.
Unfriend - "(Name) Unfriend" - Remove a friend.
Guard - "(Name) guard" - Makes the specified pet guard you. Pets can only guard their owner.
"(All/Name) guard me" - Makes all or one pet guard you.
Attack - "(All/Name) kill"
"(All/Name) attack" - All or the specified pet(s) currently under your control attack the target.
Patrol - "(Name) patrol" - Roves between two or more guarded targets.
Release - "(Name) release" - Releases pet back into the wild (removes "tame" status).
Stay - "(All/Name) stay" - All or the specified pet(s) will stop and stay in current spot.
Stop - "(All/Name) stop" - Cancels any current orders to attack, guard or follow.
Transfer - "(Name) transfer" - Transfers complete ownership to targeted player.

Client validation moved out of the core.
Client version validation now has options to ignore/kick/warn/annoy.
Automagically tries to detect current client.
Reverted the delayeddamagecontext back to OSI standards.
Can no longer use bags of sending in jail.

MagerySpell implemented. Now only Magery spells have a circle, and various other properties of 'em.
TransformationSpellHelper now implemented. Things moved around for this.
Spells now need a Timespan for the cast delay, instead of arbitrarily based on Circle. Circle doesn't make sense for non-Magery spells!
Alot of the spellweaving spells added to OSI standards.

Grandma & The Thimble

When I was a child, I would visit my Grandmother and we would play a game called, "Hide the Thimble". I would close my eyes and she would hide a sewing thimble somewhere in the room. I would search around as she would call out, "Cold, Colder" or "Warm, Warmer". When I would find the thimble I would return it to her for another try.

Grandma has since pasted, however, I have found memories of this game and hope to share the fun with you.

Do not update your client after April 10th. OSI is making some changes and we are not sure it they will work with RunUO after this date. See OSI notice below...

UPDATE: This patch has been pushed out - the projected date is now April 11th.

The 3D client will no longer be usable on the live servers as of the client patch that is projected to go live on April 11th. After that patch, the only clients that you will be able to log in with are the 2D client and, if you're a beta tester, the KR client on certain servers.

We apologize for the suddenness of this announcement - there are technical requirements we need to meet in order to continue with the KR beta testing process, and unfortunately meeting those requirements meant making changes now that the 3D client is not getting. We hope to be able to present our 3D players with the much improved Kingdom Reborn client as soon as possible after this change.

This not only goes with An Nox, but any Free Shard you are currently playing on.

NOTE: Our server is currently at client.exe v5.0.9.1 (Patch 46).

Minoc, Vesper and Britain

In an attempt to venture back to the good old days I am working towards building up Minoc, Vesper and Britain in Felucca. I may add in Luna, or move parts of it to one of these cities.

All spawns have been removed from other parts of the world. Permanent spawns have been setup all over Felucca, including the dungeons. Random spawns will be setup in the 3 cities and surrounding areas.

Travel quickly between these towns by using the "WayGates". These WayGates will take you from one town to the next. They can be found near the banks.

If you would like to stop by, I usually visit around 10:00pm. Otherwise, if you see me around I may be testing EasyUO scripts.

Greetings,

I will be making some changes to our world over the next few days. First the shard will be moving to a new test server. This linux base server, will by default cause "holes" in the map and several other problems. I will be enabling the [tele command for all players, so if you get stuck you will be able to escape.

Next, I will reload the old An Nox, while removing all old accounts and clean it up some items. There were too many statues and tents.

Finally, I will apply all the fixes so we are again running the latest version of RunUO SVN 162.

I run An Nox for the fun of scripting, c# and maintaining the server & hardware. I have little time to play or decorate myself.

I am looking for someone that would like to actively run the day to day stuff of my shard - GM & Decorate & Advertise.

This will be your chance to sharpen your UO resume as I allow you to run the shard. I will pick the first two qualified people and give them a 30-day run at it. After that, you may use my shard as a reference and as you move around the community.

Interface details:

Most of you have been here before! For all you newer folks, here’s a short take on this Chat system. You log into the game, type in the usual [c or [ch to open the menu. There you’ll see your first channel list, with all the players who are currently in the public channel, if your server has that channel enabled!

There’s a number of useful buttons on that first page. Up on the top-left are little arrows to change the number of names that appear on the list, from 5 to 15. On the right you’ll see the ‘M’, ‘S’ and ‘Q’ buttons. The ‘M’ is the menu, which will open up on the right, and will list available channels, allow you to join or view them, change the view to others types like Mail and Friend listings, and finally allow you to change the many options available to you. ‘S’ is for Search, which filters your list by whatever you chose. Lastly, ‘Q’ gives you tiny little buttons next to each name for fast access to features like Friend, Ignore, Pm, and more for staffers.

On the bottom of the list you’ll find the Status setting. Here you can hide or tell everyone you are away or busy. Under the listing you’ll find what looks like a little stoplight. By pressing these buttons you can change the look of your list, cycling through backgrounds, text colors, and adding transparencies.

What? This is all!?!? Never! I just decided I don’t need to write a 5 page description! This is just the icing. Once you take a bite, you’ll find the cake is filled with all sorts of goodness. Plug it in, explore the features! You won’t be disappointed.

Greetings,

OSI has updated their client again. Sounds like they have been busy. So, if your having problems getting in, try updating your client.

I will update the server to v5.0.4d Friday evening, as well as, update Lucid's All Spell system and Nerun's Premium Spawner. With these two updates certain spells should work better and I will respawn the shard, so it will have up to date NPC's and Monsters.

I am adding in Joeku's GMToolbar which will help GM's move and create things easier.

For adventures, I will install the Doom Secret Lamp Room Puzzle by Erica.

Finally, for the aminal lover in all of us, Ferrets. Cute, hole digging Ferrets. Tame them if you can catch'em.

I will be working on adding two new systems over the next week or so. The first is "Instance Corpses". It will allow fair party sharing of loot.

Instance Corpses

Damaging a mob and making the top attackers list allows you access to its loot in an fairly distributed fashion

The looting rights formula has remained unchanged

Players or parties who make the top attackers list will receive an “instanced” loot container

This corpse container will only be accessible by the player and not viewable by others for 3 minutes

Gold will be split evenly among all players on the top attackers list
Generic stackable items (bolts/arrows, jewels, reagents, etc.) will also be divided among the top attackers
Each player has a chance to receive up to 1/N (rounded up) of the creature’s total items (where N = # top attackers)
Resources (meat, skins, etc.) will go to the player on the top attackers list who first cuts up the corpse
Items the creature has looted from a player will only be available to the player they came from for 3 minutes

Each player’s own Luck will play a role in determining the loot that is received

In the case of a party, the member with the highest luck will be used

Loot and resources left in the instance corpses will become available to everyone after 3 minutes are up

PVP looting will not be affected by this change

Example:

The Dark Father (loot table: 2011 gold, 12 items)
- Player A 670 gold 4 items (Notice player has a chance of receiving up to 1/N of the total items)
- Player B 670 gold 3 items (Notice however players will not always receive the full amount of the 1/N items )
- Player C 670 gold 4 items (Notice gold will always be split evenly)

Change to make polymorph not have a timer and instead a toggle skill.
KiAttack no longer works with ranged weapons.
Poison strike speed and damage changed.

Must have atleast 50 weapon skill if no shield equipped to use Evasion.
Stalking bonus capped at 10 + skill/10.

Connection Issues

It appears we are still having connection issues. I reverted to RunUO v2.0 with a fresh install and still people log in and immediately get disconnected. This morning I put RunUO v1.0 back up just to see if anyone can connect to it. If not, I think my Server OS has issues and may need to be wiped and re-installed.

I am on holiday this upcoming week, so I should have a little free time to get things back up and running. Sorry for all the delays.

OSI Encryption Fixed

I finally realized that RunUO v2.0 does not support OSI Encryption, a feature that I was sure they had added. Oh well. I think this may be why so many people could not successfully log into the shard.

An Nox is now running RunUO v2 r66.

The conversion went smoothly, only losing a few items. As far as I can tell about 10 elven items were all that were lost.

It's time to take another hack at upgrading the server. I think I have axed out most of the problems. The world will look the same. You will be able to keep most of your stuff.

Most? Some, if not most, of the elven clothing and weapons will disappear. I was also not able to completely replace some spells and spell books. Lastly, you will probably find yourself missing your Daat Tokens.

Sorry, but we must move on. On the brighter side, I am using the lastest SVN version of RunUO v2 r66. This means we will almost always have the latest and greatest version. It will improve bug fixes, cheats and hacks.

The transformation will happen this week. I still have a couple of little bugs to kill. Hopefully, there be will little pain from this chop.

I am about 90% complete with the re-write of An Nox scripts so they will run on RunUO v2.0. I am still not sure if all the accounts will transfer over. In theory they should and I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Beep, beep , beep. I'm backing up. After messing around with RunUO v2 r64, I have decieded that I will require too much time to convert everything, and I really didn't want to loose everything. I'm sure you didn't either.

I will load RunUO v2 r64 on the test server and spend some more time re-writting scripts before I try this again. I realy wish there was an easier way.

Start Over, Fine a GM, or Make Everyone a GM?

I have been quite busy lately, however, I am started to debate about what I should do with An Nox. The traffic isn't quite what I would like it to be, so I am debating among the following ideas...

1) Wipe the shard and start over using RunUO v2
2) Hope someone will step up and GM the shard.
3) Make every account a GM account and let the world run wild.

RunUO v2.0 .net2

It looks like RunUO has released a new version of it's OSI server. RunUO v2.0 RC1 on .net2 is now available.

I doubt I will switch over right away, since I am currently out of town. I would also like to test moving accounts to the new server. I always hated trying to move account and knowing that you, the players, may loose something that you really like - weapons, armor, gold, etc.

If I have time this weekend, I will setup a test server and see how the new system works. Let me know if you would be interested in helping me test it out.

Opening of the Worlds

Our world has expanded. Lord Ravon has fixed the rip in time and has been able to re-connect Malas to the great lands of Felucca and the West Lands (formerly Ilshenar).

Felucca has all your favorites spots, the bank of Britain, Minoc, Vesper, and Yew. Several great dungeons of old.

The West Lands are popluated with both best and humans. The land there will slowly be changing as well as names and locations. (My goal is to form that area into the great West Lands based on the Wheel of Time series.)

Look for the new Travel Room, where you will be able to travel "the ways" to distant lands of adventure.

Dialog NPC by Arya

Summary:
This NPC can be used to create dialogs such as those in classical single player RPGs. The creation of the dialogs is done through an external program which produces a datafile that if positioned correctly within the RunUO folder allows the NPC to reconfigure itself on the fly, without rebooting the server.

The dialog script supports also invokation of custom code whenever a player chooses an option on the dialog gump.

Description:
This NPC is an evolution of the Conversational NPC I posted some time ago. It's more complex in its functionality though and much more powerful.

The NPC simulates dialogs with players with multiple choice answers (such as those seen in classical Ultima games). The dialog itself is created through an external program called DialogEditor, provided in the download package. The whole conversation is carried through a gump displaying the NPC speech, and a number of choices the player can make in response (limited to 8).

The NPC can be configured on the fly, so it doesn't need a server reboot to apply a new dialog. The XML files containing the dialog configuration must be placed in a well known folder within the RunUO main directory (by default RunUO\TheBox\Dialog), and once they're in a staff member only needs to double click the NPC to access the dialog selection gump (which will display only the name of the XML file, not the full path).

The dialog structure can be as complex as it gets, and I tried to do my best to make creation and editing user friendly. I have written a comprehensive readme file for the DialogEditor program (in the download package) which explains everything you need to know to produce dialogs.

Probably the most powerful feature of this NPC is the ability to interact with your code without actually recoding the NPC itself. Whenever a player chooses a response to whatever the NPC said, the dialog can be configured to dynamically call a function in an external script (provided the function has a specified signature, refer to the DialogEditor readme file for details).

I have provided two very simple samples of what this script can do:

- Thief: whenever a player with over 5000 gold in their backpack approaches this NPC, a dialog will start, leading inevitably to either the player donating the thief some money, or the thief stealing if the player refuses.

- Travel: this is a NPC that will teleport the player to either Britain or Trinsic for a price of 500 gc. If you drop 500 gc on the NPC it will ask you where you wish to go, if you double click it, it will first explain its function and then ask you if you agree to pay (if you say yes, but don't have the money in your bank the NPC will kill you when you try to travel).

Refer to the installation section for information on how to install or remove the samples.

As usual any feedback is appreciated, not working on a shard makes it quite hard to decently test things so please report any issues you might find and I'll try to address them asap.

Installation:
The package you download will contain 3 folders:

- DialogEditor : this is the program used to create the dialogs. As all my programs, this requires the .NET framework 1.1 to run. This folder also contains DialogEditor.html, the readme file with instructions for the program.
- Samples : these are the XML files for the two situation described above. By default put them into ..\RunUO\TheBox\Dialog and they will be accessible by the NPC when the server starts.
- Script : this folder holds all the files needed for the NPC to operate on the server and should be placed within your Scripts folder. If you don't wish to use the samples provided, delete the DialogNPC\Samples folder as they only contain support classes for the Thief and Travel dialogs.

If you wish to change the target folder for the XML files, you can do so by editing DialogNPC.cs. The option is right at the beginning of the file (remember, all folders are realtive to the core RunUO folder).

When you start the server use:

[add DialogNPC

to create the NPC. Double click it to access the list of available dialogs. Refresh the gump, if you add or remove XML files from the dialog folder to see the changes.

Updates

June 19 (1.1):
- Fixed bug where the player wasn't removed from the current user list and therefore couldn't initiate a new dialog.
- Changed the way the item-in-backpack trigger is handled by the NPC. Now the check is done just once, when the player enters the NPC's range, so the player will no longer receive the gump multiple times when moving around the NPC.

Over the weekend, I upgraded our An Nox Server, doubling the processor and memory. I have noticed an improvement and hope you do too.

Need some help with your adventures in An Nox? Try UOAM.

UO Auto-Map (UOAM for short) is a supplement to UO's radar map. You could call it a kind of GPS for UO.
It's a utility that displays a portion of Ultima Online's map. The map can be scaled, tilted to match UO's orientation, labeled and configured in a number of different ways. You can even link up with your friends and have UOAM keep track of their locations as well.

Improving Performance

UOGateway - We're Back!

Good news, we are back on UOGateway. One of the good mods has put us back up. Pretty scary because I was not expecting it so soon. I had the shard down for about 30 minutes doing some needed up dates, when I notice them pinging the server. I put everything back on-line and were good to go!

Someone reported that they could not connect to our website, which they couldn't for a while. Now the modorator at UOG is out for the next week. So, our shard is no longer listed.

However, An Nox is still up and running. You can manually add An Nox to your UOG list by doing the following.

1) Click on "New Local Server"
2) Enter the server name of "An Nox"
3) Enter Descript as "An Nox"
4) Type the Server DNS as "annox.no-ip.com"
5) Save the settings.

Now An Nox will always be in your UOGateway list.

The great Khaldun Empire has sent a stealthy band to take over Fort Kedalcaster, south of Luna. This band of warriors hide in the surrounding fort. You must wait them out. If you stand silently inside the fort you may catch a glimpse of them running around the around.

They are strong and a formidable force of rouges, however it is up to you to regain the fort.

Becareful using the Way Gates, even the one located near the west side of Luna. The Outlanders have setup a camp near by one of the exits.

It appears this camp in near the Dark Foreset, yet not close to the city of Vanguard, the home of the elvens folks. Trade there is still safe.

The bounty hunter has setup next to the bank of Luna. Ask him about the Outlanders.

Giant Ice Worms have been spotted inside Bishop's Icepoint. This icy land is just north of Luna. Rumor has it there are Ice Elementals and other snow bound creatures living there too.

Beware, they tend to hide in the snow. You may need to stop and wait a few minutes before they crawl out of their hiding places.

On Site Dueling

How it works:
The player uses the command [onsiteduel.

Player will recieve a target cursor and be told to select the player they wish to duel.
After selecting a player a "duel request flag" will drop from the sky between the 2 players.
The targeted player will recieve a gump to either accept or decline the duel.
On accepting the duel both players will become orange to each other and a 5 second timer will count down to the start of the duel.

(At this point both players will be invulnerable to all other players and all other players invulnerable to them.)

The 2 players are now free to roam around and fight each other untill A. one of them dies, or B. the distance between them becomes more then 30 tiles( about 2 screens).

When the loser dies all items from his/her corpse are put back into their backpack and their corpse is removed.
